May 30th, 31st, 2003
“An Evening at The Bedford Springs”
On Friday, May 30, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the historic splendor of the
Bedford County Courthouse, guests will be able to view an array of Bedford Springs papers, photos and artifacts from the Wm. Defibaugh Collection and, Bill, Nancy Pyle and others will speak about the history and importance of the Bedford Springs Hotel. For more information or to purchase tickets ($10.00), contact PHS at 814-623-2011. Contributions will be $12.00 at the door. Student's tickets will be $5.00
 
The exhibition will be open free of charge to the public on Saturday, May 31 from 11 to 4 p.m.
 
August 9-26, 2003
"Historical Images and Photographs" Exhibition
In collaboration with the Bedford County Arts Council, PHS is sponsoring an exhibition at the Bedford County Art Center of two-dimensional art work, and photography depicting past and current images and interpretations of the Bedford Springs, as well as other historic sites in the County. Photos from the Defibaugh Collection, not before exhibited, will also be shown. On August 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. a tea will be served for guests. On August 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., a public reception, with refreshments, will be held.
 
A series of lectures on several aspects of the Springs history will be presented this year and next. In their final planning stages are:
 
November, 2003—Lecture —
“Mineral Waters”
Nancy Pyle and Christy Bonello
 
Spring 2004—Lecture —
“Architecture”
Tim Paxton
 
 

 Others lectures being planned for Spring 2004 may include: The Presidents, Civil War, and a roundtable discussion by persons who worked at and/or attended social functions at the Springs.

August 19, 2004 - “After Hours”
A family event, on the lawn of the Bedford Springs, sponsored by the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce
 
 
Fall 2004
Bedford Springs documentary video by Bedford County students grades 9-12, featuring the Wm. Defibaugh Collection.
